ABOUT US

HISTORY

Coleman Temple Holiness Church was founded through the vision and faith of the late Elder Lucille Coleman. Her ministry began in a simple yet powerful way as she taught the Word of God in her home and in surrounding communities, including Wrightsville, Stillmore, Midville, and Nunez. What began as local outreach steadily grew into a calling for something greater.

That calling became clear in June of 1988, when Elder Coleman received confirmation to move forward in building a church. Alongside her two sons, George and Watius Coleman, she stepped out in faith to secure land and prepare for the construction of a permanent place of worship. Their shared commitment marked a defining moment in the church’s journey.

By 1990, the church building was completed, and the congregation relocated from the Stillmore area to the Dogwood community. Elder Lucille Coleman served as Pastor, with Rev. George Coleman as Assistant Pastor from 1990 until his passing in 1998. During this time, the church became firmly rooted in teaching, fellowship, and community presence.

Even in her later years, Elder Coleman continued preaching and teaching with clarity and conviction. Her faithfulness remained evident until the Lord called her home in July of 2005, leaving behind a legacy grounded in obedience, service, and trust in God.

Following her passing, leadership continued within the Coleman family. In 2006, Rev. Robert Coleman was installed as Pastor and served faithfully for 13 years. Under his leadership, the church experienced continued spiritual growth and remained focused on spreading the Gospel of Jesus Christ.

After Rev. Robert Coleman’s passing in 2017, leadership transitioned to Pastor Eugene Coleman, continuing the ministry within the Coleman family. During his tenure, the church remained focused preserving the spiritual foundation that had been established. This season reflected continuity of vision and preparation for the next chapter in the life of the church.

Throughout these years of leadership, Deacon Watius Coleman served as a steady and faithful presence. As the first Head Deacon of Coleman Temple Holiness Church, he served under three pastors and is remembered for his leadership, loyalty, and commitment to the church until his passing in 2020.

Following this season of leadership, the church experienced another significant transition. In August of 2025, Pastor Eugene Coleman passed the baton to Pastor-Elect Mark Wise and Apostle Kashema Hodges, marking the beginning of a new chapter for Coleman Temple Holiness Church. Together, they lead with a focus on restoration, growth, and outreach, honoring the church’s legacy while positioning it for the future.

Today, Coleman Temple Holiness Church remains committed to preaching the Gospel of salvation and expanding God’s Kingdom. Guided by a rich history of faith and leadership, the church continues to move forward with purpose, unity, and hope.
